I found God On the corner of First and Amistad Where the west Was all but won All alone Smoking his last cigarette I said, "Where you been?" He said, "Ask anything".
The song filled her ears as she ran past a couple holding hands. She glanced away with a grin. Closing her eyes briefly before reaching an intersection. She jogged in place as she waited for the go ahead to cross. A minute later the light turned red and she quickly ran across. Running was her safe place, she felt like nothing could touch her.

The sweet ache from running finally hit her muscles as she ran past a coffee shop. The smell filling her senses and she decided to go there after her run. But she still had to do another couple of blocks before she would stop.

After running for her last 30 minutes she turned around and began a brisk walk back to the small coffee shop she had passed a while back. A smile came to her lips as she saw a child playing with his dog. She had a flashback of when she was younger and her dog puddles. Which it was obvious why he was called that. A laugh escaped her lips as she thought of the surprise on her mother's face as she saw puddles had left a surprise on her bedroom floor. The crisp white of the carpet was tinged a slight yellow. "Bad dog" She had scolded him and Ariel picked him up with a smile. How she missed him. She thought as the smile turned into a grin. But animals and her didn't get along with her at the moment. They always barked at her now. Being a werewolf was more of a burden then anything. She wished she had a dog and could relish in it's companionship. But for now it was not possible. The smell of the coffee hit her nostrils as she saw the shop once again. A black sign reading Metropolis Coffee Company in big white letters. She went into the small coffee shop. The menu had very interesting drinks but she settled on a drink called Samba Organic. She ordered it and waited a couple of minutes for them to brew it. "Ariel!" A woman yelled placing her coffee on the counter. She grabbed the drink and found a nice spot in the corner. As she drank the coffee she watched the people walking in and out. One of her favorite things was observing people and wondering what they were thinking.

Just as Ariel was enjoying the song her stomach growled. That was also when a smell hit her nose. Turning her head slightly to look at the guy standing at the counter. He was ordering something and she gazed at him curiously. This guy was one of her kind... a werewolf. She smiled. Honestly it made her happy to find someone else like her. Watching as the guy grabbed the items he had ordered. Her stomach growled and she grinned. Looking back up she had lost the guy but then noticed he decided to sit at a booth. A feeling of disappointment went through her. Finishing her coffee, she threw it out and decided to grab something to eat. She decided to order something edible before her stomach ate itself. "I'll get a latte with skim milk and the herb roasted chicken on ciabatta bread." She said with a smile. Ariel paid the total and waited for her food. Glancing around she noticed a couple walking towards the table she had been just sitting at. Although she didn't want them to sit there, they did. She growled slightly in protest as her name was called. Oh well... She thought as she inhaled the smell of her food. Every table was taken, so she decided to use the excuse to sit with the guy in the booth. She walked up to the booth with her food in hand. "This seat taken?" She asked with a warm smile. Hopefully he wouldn't reject her. Because her only option would be to eat outside.

At first it seemed like he didn't hear her at all. But then he said, "Huh?" as he looked up at her in a daze. He shook his head and Ariel grinned. Maybe she should have just went outside and not bothered trying to talk to him. But her curiosity got the best of her. Then he smiled at her, "No, you can sit." He replied finally gesturing to the other side of the booth. Relief went through her a she took a breathe and placed her food on the wooden table. The seat was way more comfortable than the harder wooden chairs at the tables. Ariel preferred booths but when she's alone she sat at the tables. She felt it was stupid to take up a space that could be used by more people. But booths were always nice, they made you feel like no one was around you. Your own private world. "Thanks." She said smiling. Ariel took a bite out of her sandwich, not able to resist it any longer. Chewing and swallowing the rather large bite she had taken. It tasted very good and she knew it was fresh. Not like at other places where they have them delivered and made already. "My name is Ariel." pausing to drink some of her latte, "What's yours?" She asked glancing up at him. Looking at him now she realized he was a bit younger than her. He had tattoos all over his arms. The look was definitely different from what she was used to, but it was a good different.

As he swallowed his brownie, he smiled. "I'm Max... Did you just come from the gym or something?" He asked. Ariel smiled back at him. "Nope.. I went for a little run." Ariel said taking another bite from her sandwich. She swallowed and continued,"It's just a way to have fun for me." Glancing at him as she took a sip of her latte. It tasted so good. Not like Starbucks... She thought. They burned their coffee beans and it always tasted strange to her. But this coffee was perfect. Adding two more packets of sugar to her drink. The sweeter it was the better. Well it was her philosophy. Of course she didn't mean enough to put you into a coma, but the perfect amount. Enough for you not to be able to taste the bitterness. "So... you like Chicago?" She asked to break the silence. Ariel wanted to talk to him about his thoughts on being a werewolf. But that wasn't a question you asked about immediately. People sometimes don't like being asked those types of things. I guess I'll have to wait. She thought taking another sip of her coffee.

"I've been here for a little while now, and I don't mind it much, it's cool living in the city. I miss Michigan though, that's where all my family is at basically." He laughed a little as he replied. "I know what you mean." she said sadly. Becoming a werewolf destroyed her life. Her relationship with her parents, Marcus, everything once precious to her was taken. A grin grew on her face as she continued thinking. Staring into her latte for what seemed the longest time and then she lifted the glass to her lips. "Another casualty of being different." She said sipping some coffee. Sometimes she dearly hated being a wolf. Hated that she had decided to go on that hunt with Marcus. damn it! she thought as she put down her cup. With a little too much force and some coffee fell onto the table. "Sorry... just me being dumb." Ariel said with a laugh as she started to clean up the mess she had just made.

"Here, you don't have to apologize or anything." He said with a light laugh, as he tossed napkins over the spilled coffee. "Did any get on your clothes?" He asked her. Ariel glanced down at her legs. Crap! Why did I wear white? she asked herself. "Unharmed luckily." She said with a smile. Earlier while she was in a daze he had asked her something... What was it? She wondered, in thought. Suddenly his question came to mind. "Did you.... get pushed away too?" He had asked in such a soft tone. No wonder she had not acknowledged the question at the time. "To answer your earlier question. I guess I was.." She paused with a grin, "But they don't know what I am. I choose to stay away. How would they accept me anyway?" She said looking up at him. It's not like she was really asking him, she was just stating how do you go about saying it. I can't just walk up to your parents and say... "You know that mythical creature the werewolf well I am one." Also can't wait till a full moon and attack them. But there was always a letter.. Hi mom & dad, I couldn't tell you this sooner I'm sorry but I'm a werewolf. She laughed at her thoughts. They would probably think she had gone crazy and send her to a mental ward. But there was always hope that they would believe her. Which would either mean they would try to kill her, run away from her, and, in an extremely rare case, support her. Ha! That would be the day! She thought.

"I dunno... There are people who would accept it, mine didn't but I never really got along with my parents in the first place.." He said as he played with his Mountain Dew bottle. "I won't lie though, if my parents hadn't already found out on accident, I probably wouldn't have told them, either.." He continued speaking so softly she knew no human could hear. She smiled slightly not from the conversation but just having someone to relate to. "I don't think I will ever be able to have the courage to tell them anything." Ariel paused as she sipped some coffee and then added, " But it is nice to talk to someone." "I mean you can't talk to just anyone." Ariel said very softly. Talking to Maxie was decent enough but she was an older werewolf that didn't really quite understand. After all she had no living relatives and she didn't know what to say when Ariel brought up her family. She couldn't ever see them again if she didn't control herself. But would she ever see her family again? She thought with a grin. ((OCC: Sorry not too long really tired...))
