Another night.

Another chance to find something worth slaying. The night seemed oddly silent as the young slayer made her way through the lonely cemetery. The air around her was cold as ever. Why evil had to pick such a cold city as their hellmouth she did not know. Back in her hometown of Los Angeles the slayer never got cold. The weather was always nice enough to sun bathe... unless it was raining... or extremely windy. Okay so it wasn't always perfect, but at least it was better than this place. The truth was, however, that no matter how much she complained... she didn't miss LA. To her that was just the place where her sister had died... and her life had been taken away from her and given to the slayer machine.

She didn't mind being a slayer, in fact she liked it. She just sometimes wished that she could live a normal life. No vampires. No demons. No killing. That was not a possibility anymore so... she was going to make sure that the rest of the world, the part that was unaware of the dangers that lurk in the night, would be safe.

That was the only reason she was there tonight. Looking for trouble. Hopefully, whatever she found would be big enough to make her forget her emoness for tonight.

Cemetery comes from the Greek word, 'κοιμητήριον', which means 'sleeping place.'

It's funny the things you start to remember when you're in a place that you aren't very fond of; like a cemetery. Sam always had random facts popping into her head at the most inconvenient of times. To actually remember the Greek word for the place she was in was quite an achievement. For some odd reason, cemeteries were always objects of superstition and legend. She remembered reading that in a book, once. As much as the girl wasn't fond of the place she was at, she did have a specific reason for being there.

Sam lost a friend a couple of days ago. Her friend, Anna, had died of terminal cancer. Sam went to the funeral a couple of days ago. It was Sam's first funeral and she had never seen so much grief in her life. Sam tried to be as comforting as possible especially to Anna's parents. Sam thought that a funeral was suppose to be the chance for someone to give a well and proper goodbye. However, the funeral didn't seem the right place for Sam to give the proper goodbye at least not to the friend that had been there for her since her freshmen year of college.

Anyway, Sam was at the cemetery to pay her respects to her late her friend. She knew it probably would've been better to come during the day, but Sam didn't really care. She was here and she might as well confess to someone her little demonic secret even if the person was dead. As she walking toward her friend's grave, she had a strange feeling that she wasn't the only one at the cemetery. Her demon senses were tingling. Well, it was more like she smelled someone. Her demonic powers were growing everyday and even though they were more stronger when she was in her demon form, it didn't mean that her heightened sense of smell didn't transfer over into her human form.

"Who's there?" Sam asked aloud as she stopped walking. She knew by the smell that whoever it was indeed human since they didn't stink of death like a vampire would. However, she could be wrong and this person could be a vamp. If that was the case, Sam was not in the mood for trouble. She sure wasn't looking for it.

Minutes had passed since she had entered the lonely cemetery. Belle was starting feel like all the monsters in town were hiding from her. After all, this whole city was supposed to be crawling with baddies since it was a hellmouth. Yet, she barely found any vamps walking around. Some of the experts at the council thought it might be because the hellmouth here was fairly new, so the monsters were just starting come in. Some day they will pour in and this city will be theirs for the taking... Belle recalled the words of one of their psychics as she kept walking along the rows of graves. Staring at the pieces of stone in the ground made her think about her sister. They had never found her body... so she had gotten an empty grave back in LA.

Feeling sad about her sisters death would not help her right now. Not when she was on the hunt. Plus, she had cried enough times over the years and blamed herself enough. Lost in her thoughts the young slayer did not hear the other someone coming up behind her. Belle turned rapidly when she heard a young girl talk. Could it be a vampire?! Why the hell would a vamp talk to her? They usually take the 'bite first ask questions later' approach to doing things. So Belle figured the girl was not a vampire. Why would a young lady be out here so late if she wasn't a vampire. [I]She could be a slayer... Belle thought as she stared at the other girl with a curious look on her face.

"Umm hi... I'm Belle... who the hell are you?" she asked the random stranger, hoping in the back of her mind that the girl would turn out to be evil so she could attack her. No wonder you don't make friends... Belle thought.

So, her demon senses had been right. There was someone with her after all. Turns out the girl was a little bit ahead of her, distance-wise, that eventually the blonde stranger turned to face her. Seems like she wasn't the only one with a curious look on her face. The blonde girl who had identified herself as Belle, had asked who the hell she was. Sam thought about the various responses she could give to that question. She could be sarcastic, she could be honest or she could be defensive. She decided to go with the honest approach. She basically had nothing to hide, except the whole 'demon' thing, but that wasn't the point right now.

" I'm Samantha, but everyone just calls me Sam." was her response to the question. She was curious as the why a girl ,like Belle, was in a cemetery. Okay, Sam knew that maybe Belle was wondering the same thing. So, Sam decided it was her turn to ask the next question.

"Well, now that through with the introductions, the next logical question would be; what are you doing here?" Sam asked sounding a bit suspicious. Well, she sort of had a right to be since she knew that most 'normal' people didn't come out to a cemetery around this time of the night. Sam wasn't in the normal category anymore and she really just wanted to visit her dearly departed friend. She wondered if that was why Belle was here. Maybe she lost someone, too ... Sam thought, but there something off about the pretty blonde in front of her. Her demonic senses were kicking in and sensing something other than human about her.
